Christmas Lunch at Ferne Animal Sanctuary

As we work as Volunteers at Fern every Tuesday, we thought that we would arrange to have our Christmas Lunch there and also because Richard the Chef is always very helpful and kind to us.  We arrived at 12.30 and found the table ready for us and decorated beautifully!  We had all chosen our meals beforehand, with some of us having starters of either, Pork Pate, Pear and Stilton Tart or Soup.  For our main courses we had chosen Turkey with all the trimmings or Lasagne.  The puddings were Raspberry Pavlova, Profiteroles and Christmas Pudding so we were spoilt for choice.  Amanda the Volunteer co-ordinator joined us for the lunch, which was really nice and we had a fun filled time – sharing cracker jokes and doing charades etc.  Toby came over all formal and did an impromptu speech, which was very nice and quite emotional – in that we all asked him to stop but of course he wouldn’t! The food was lovely, plenty of everything with us being offered seconds and even mince pies and a hot drink after our meal.  As we had lots of mince pies left, we checked with Richard and he agreed that we could share them with all the staff at Ferne, which went down very well, particularly with the maintenance staff!!! Wished everyone a very Merry Christmas and are looking forward to going back in the New Year.

We also wish everyone that visits our site a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Best wishes from the Tuesday Volunteer Group
